Starting Where You Are
I believe in a strengths-based approach to treatment, which means I start by working to understand who my client is, what their concerns are, and what goals they want to achieve. This allows me to collaborate with my clients to develop effective coping skills for addictions, anxiety, depression, caregiving, adjustment to aging, grief, relationship stress, anger management, boundary setting, or reactions to trauma. For substance use treatment, I start with a harm reduction approach for drug and alcohol use. I have experience working with the military and queer population (LGBTQIA+).
I value a person-centered approach to therapy, centered on collaboration, identifying values and goal setting. I prefer to focus treatment on providing evidence-based education such as CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) and a strong focus on developing coping skills.
I believe in treating everyone with respect, positivity, and compassion. It takes courage to seek help. We can start wherever you are.
